Zentropy · Studio Practice

Objects with memory, made by modern means.

A small studio for sculpted, printed, and hand-finished pieces. Part artifact, part prototype. Mostly one of a kind.

From the studio

Antiquity is just a finish.

Modern Relic started with one question: what would a second-century portrait bust look like if it had been printed last Tuesday?

Each piece passes through the same loop — a reference, a sculpt or a scan, an overnight print, then hours of finishing by hand.

Mostly busts, ornament studies, faceted hardware, restoration work, and one-offs for people who want something with weight on the shelf.

What it becomes

Three kinds of work.

Studies

Speculative pieces. Busts, fragments, fictional artifacts. What would this object look like if it had survived?

Commissions

A piece for your shelf, a prop for a production, a custom replica from a scan. Send a reference, a sketch, or a description — we’ll work it into the object.

One-offs

Single pieces, made once. Numbered, finished by hand, signed on the base. Each one made to be the only one of its kind.

Process

A careful build, not a loud one.

Each piece moves through the same four steps. None of them skipped, none of them rushed.

  1. See

References, dimensions, scans, textures — and the feel the piece needs.

  2. Shape

Sculpt or model until the form sits right in three dimensions.

  3. Print

Resin, FDM, or hybrid — whichever the form actually needs.

  4. Finish

Sand, paint, patina, sometimes gild. Sign the base.

Good fits

For pieces that need presence.

  • A display piece that needs a tactile, historical edge — without becoming theatrical.
  • A scanned form that needs cleanup or a print-ready rebuild.
  • A product concept that needs sculptural character before it goes to manufacture.
  • A one-off commission that needs to be made once, made well, and signed.

Commission · collaborate

Bring the fragment, sketch, scan, or strange idea.

Send the reference material and what the piece is for. We’ll come back with options, timing, and a price.
